Work with HelloFresh in Warsaw and its HelloTech organisation, HelloFresh’s global technology backbone with more than 1000 people, building the digital products that power our end-to-end food experience. From meal kits and ready-to-eat meals to specialty offerings like pet food and premium meat & seafood, HelloTech creates the platforms that bring tailored food solutions to millions of customers every month.

Our subscription-based, direct-to-consumer model relies on technology at every step, from customer-facing apps and personalization logic to pricing, forecasting, supply chain optimization, and initiatives that help reduce food waste. While our brands operate independently to serve distinct customer needs, they are united by shared platforms, data, and operational excellence built by HelloTech.

HelloTech works in autonomous, cross-functional alliances, each owning a specific product or domain end-to-end. By working with our Warsaw office, you will help shape scalable, data-driven products used across our markets, working with a modern tech stack and international teams to continuously improve how people discover, order, and enjoy HelloFresh’s products, today and in the future.

### About the role: What's in the Box

How do we transform a customer into an engaged user? In the Loyalty & Virality Tribe, we own the relationship. We are the architects of the HelloFresh Rewards and Loyalty ecosystem, where our goal is to create a "sticky" experience that delights our members and keeps them coming back.

You’ll be contributing to a high-cadence team focused on one primary goal: Loyalty Member ROI. The team doesn't just build features; it builds reasons for millions of users to engage with their reward points, explore new products, and feel valued at every step of their journey—from the shopping funnel and beyond.

### What you’ll do: The Recipe

At HelloFresh we are moving away from a model where software developers just execute tickets toward one where product engineers are trusted to own customer problems. A Product Engineer takes a problem, forms a point of view, validates it with customers and data, and ships it using AI as a force multiplier.

- Drive Loyalty ROI: Design and ship features across the Loyalty and Rewards domain that encourage members to earn, track, and—most importantly—spend their points.

- Backend Ownership: Design, develop, and deploy high-performance, scalable backend services and APIs in the Loyalty and Rewards domain. You will ensure end-to-end delivery by collaborating closely with frontend/mobile engineering teams.

- High-Velocity Iteration: We move fast. You will help us maintain an aggressive development cadence, turning hypotheses into live experiments in day(s), not weeks.

- Shape the Backlog: You are encouraged to contribute to our hypothesis backlog, helping decide what is built based on data coming from customer behavior.

- Take the technical lead on backend-heavy product problems, designing, building and operating the services and systems needed to deliver them reliably at scale.

- Work beyond your specialization when the problem demands it. Your specialization is your anchor, not your boundary.

- Operate what you build. You instrument, monitor, and improve your systems in production. Shipping is the beginning of the learning cycle, not the end.

### What you’ll bring: The Ingredients

- Hands-on experience working with AI tooling (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) beyond casual experimentation. You use AI agents every day. You have a practical sense of how the context you provide to AI tools shapes output quality, and how to set boundaries on AI-generated work.

- Backend Engineering: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in building and deploying scalable backend services. Proficiency in Go and/or PHP is preferred; experience with JVM languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin) and a willingness to learn Golang is also welcome. Familiarity with cloud technologies is a plus.

- Microservices and Distributed Systems: Strong background in backend development, with a focus on microservices and distributed systems. Proven ability to build event-driven architectures using messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or AWS SQS/SNS. A deep understanding of integrating backend services with various clients (web/mobile) seamlessly.

- Database Expertise: Deep understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL). Familiarity with non-relational databases (e.g., document or key-value stores) and/or GraphQL is a plus.

- System Integration Focus: You possess a strong understanding of the entire system landscape and are adept at ensuring seamless and resilient integration across services and domains.

- Development Process Excellence: Practical knowledge of Docker, container orchestration tools like Kubernetes, and CI/CD implementation. Solid foundation in testing practices, including both unit and end-to-end testing.

- Collaboration: Strong collaboration skills when partnering with product designers to deliver impactful user experiences.

- The Speed Factor: You thrive in environments with aggressive prioritization, demonstrating an ability to make necessary trade-off decisions, including product-related ones. You know when to build for the long term and when to build a "quick and dirty" experiment to prove a point.

- Cross-Funnel Thinking: You understand that "Loyalty" doesn't stop at the Rewards page—it lives throughout the user experience, in the checkout, the account settings, and the homepage.

- You take full ownership. You have a bias to ship. You finish the last twenty percent.

- You have product sense and are opinionated about what should be built and why, and you can back that opinion with data and user evidence.

- Strong fluency in Go and hands on experience building distributed systems in production: event-driven and asynchronous flows, clear service contracts, and designing for partial failure. You operate what you build, including its observability and data layer.
