## Job description

### Director of Student Engagement

### Grant Hillel at the University of Delaware

### Role Overview

Grant Hillel at the University of Delaware is seeking a dynamic and creative Director of Student and Community Engagement to join our professional team. We are looking for someone with energy, superb organizational and communication skills, and a strong commitment to Jewish life. You will build relationships with students, while creating programs around campus that are impactful, and of high quality. You will be a strategic thought-partner with the Executive Director in order to achieve our mission infused with Jewish values.

We have an estimated 2,250 Jewish students at the University of Delaware and there is not a one size fits all approach for how we can reach them all. You will have the chance to learn from what works, build connections between students and have the opportunity to develop meaningful Jewish experiences.

### What You’ll Do

- Design and implement an engagement plan founded in the design-thinking process to strategically build relationships.

- Mentor student leaders in their Jewish growth through individual meetings and group trainings to cultivate a Jewish community that is caring, diverse, welcoming, and actively inclusive.

- Contribute to program development, manage logistics, and collaborate with staff and student leaders to ensure the execution of Shabbat, holiday celebrations, and small to large-scale events.

- Supervise student interns, student leaders, and their committees who are responsible for engaging their peers in Jewish life on campus.

- Supervise the engagement team of 3-5 professional staff.

- Assist the development work and other fundraising efforts.

- Advise student leaders and student groups in planning, publicity/marketing, implementing, budgeting, and assessing programs and events.

- Maintain program attendance records for measurement and ongoing evaluation purposes.

- Other responsibilities as assigned.

### What You’ll Bring to the Job

- Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of full-time professional work experience.

- Participation in student life and organizations during your college career.

- Confidence developing and running initiatives and comfort asking questions.

- Desire to motivate student leaders to engage their peers, deepen their Jewish identities, and think innovatively about program content and marketing.

- Exemplary time management skills, including the capacity to juggle competing priorities and deadlines, and to remain flexible within an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.

- A commitment to pluralism and comfort with your Jewish identity so you may act as a role model and mentor for emerging Jewish adults.

- Owning your unique Jewish knowledge and experiences and inspiring others to be on a Jewish journey.

- Strong written and verbal skills.

### What You’ll Receive

Grant Hillel offers a competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace along with a comprehensive benefits package. The salary range for this role is $55,000-$61,000. The position includes Jewish professional growth opportunities, great supervision, and work on a college campus with a dynamic, collaborative team.

### About Grant Hillel at UD

Grant Hillel is home to an active, vibrant and growing Jewish community. Located at the University of Delaware, we engage more than half of the University's 2,250 plus Jewish students through meaningful experiences that foster community, leadership, Jewish learning, Israel engagement, service, and lifelong Jewish connection. Our team is passionate, collaborative, entrepreneurial, and deeply committed to creating an environment where every student feels welcomed, valued, and inspired to shape their own Jewish journey.

This is an exciting moment to join Grant Hillel. We are building the new Grant Hillel at the Kristol Center for Jewish Life, an 18,000 square foot, state of the art facility that will open in Spring 2027. This transformational space will expand our ability to serve students for generations to come while providing an exceptional workplace for our staff. If you are energized by building community, thinking creatively, and making a lasting impact on the lives of college students, Grant Hillel offers the opportunity to be part of something truly special.

Grant Hillel is affiliated with Hillel International. Hillel International enriches the lives of Jewish students so they may enrich the Jewish people and the world, and envisions a world where every student is inspired to make an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning and Israel.

### About Hillel International

In 1923, Rabbi Benjamin Frankel started Hillel with humble means, a noble mission and a breathtaking vision: to convey Jewish civilization to a new generation. Today, Hillel International continues to enrich the lives of Jewish students and is the largest Jewish campus organization in the world at nearly 1,000 colleges and universities across North America and around the world. As Hillel evolves as an organization, the mission remains steadfast: to create lasting connections with every Jewish student that foster an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning, and Israel and train them to become the next Jewish leaders.

Hillel is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to creating an accepting and inclusive environment for all.

**Live in Hillel’s hiring system.** Read from the company's own applicant tracking system, not reposted from a job board — so it's a real, open requisition rather than an ad that outlived the role.

We remove it as soon as it disappears at source.
